“I Feel Proud Because My Appointment Is Based On Performance And Integrity” -Victoria Conteh

Sierra Leone Premier League female tactician, Victoria Conteh, said she felt proud because her appointment was based on performance and integrity.

Conteh, who is presently the only female leading a male dugout with East End Tigers, has been outstanding since taking the top-flight side. She was appointed as lead coach for the Sierra Leone U20 female team and Ernest Halloway will be her first team assistant, Regina Hamilton, second assistant, with Alison Conteh named as goalkeeping coach.

She became famous after she ended Bo Rangers unbeaten run in the campaign by defeating them 2-1 at the Siaka Steven Stadium in January 2020and also guided the Submarines to three-straight wins against Ports Authority, Kamboi Eagles and Mighty Blackpool in February 2020.

Her side was three points adrift with a game in hand from league leaders Bo Rangers before the league was halted due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking to Night Watch Sports, Conteh who also happens to be a CAF instructor, a police officer and a qualified CAF A Licence coach, said she was delighted over her new appointment.

“I feel proud because my appointment is based on performance and integrity, and I am looking forward to sharing my experiences with the young girls,” she said.

She added: “I’m excited to have been chosen for the role as head of a U-20 national side. And, also, I want to say thank you to the management of East End Tigers. They made me who I am today.”

She was also the former head coach of the Sierra Leone Police Female Football team, and, later on, had a spell with the head coach capacity of the Sierra Leone Female Football Team (Lioness).

East End Tigers FC, in a press release, congratulated Coach Victoria Conteh for her appointment as Head Coach of Sierra Leone’s Under-20 Women’s Team.

‘The Yellow Submarines further appreciate the Sierra Leone Football Association, especially its Executive, for choosing our top official to serve in a national capacity.” The press release continued, “The Executive, General Membership and Fans of East End Tigers wish Victoria Conteh all the best and pray she succeeds”.
